Accused would be put to some painful task. Have to carry hot piece of iron or walk over hot coals their wound would be bound up: three days later a priest would inspect the hand or foot. If the hand had really started to get infected or worse = god. If hand was healing well = god intervened and sign of did not intervene and you are guilty innocence. Stone at bottom and reach bottom to pick up same results as hot iron. Tied up and thrown in cold water. If individual floated = guilt renounced baptism and water is so pure it would repel guilty. Two individuals duke it out on horses and whoever wins the battle were deemed innocent, those that lost were guilty. Divine intervention = god would never allow the innocent man to lose. Often times people could have others fight for them. Wealthy pay someone who is really talented at fighting.
