Document Summary

When i see a tree i really have an image of a tree in my head. Don"t really know external world- just our ideas. How do we know what is real. All we know is ideas in the brain. Sensory impression is flat circle with shading. We infer that flat circle is a sphere. X"s ability to affect y, where y is not a subject. Idea of snowball is complex idea of simple ideas such as coldness and whiteness. If they were objective- wouldn"t depend on light. Would have to remain constant in absence of light. When told opposite, where red things are blue, and blue is red, believe it and its contingent upon what we are told. We could all be looking up at the sky and calling it blue. Can"t go into the mind and see how they"re seeing the world.
