Because, a profession"s way of practice and it"s interventions become more credible the more they are supported by evidence. Step 1: posing a clinical question: the formulation of a clear and answerable question derived from a patient/ client"s problem or need. Step 2: searching for the evidence: the process of searching for the best available research to help answer the clinical question. Step 3: appraising the literature: the process of determining the quality and usefulness of the research found in the literature. Step 4: making a decision: the process of collaborating with the patient/client to decide whether or not the information gained from the literature applies to the problem or need. Step 5: assessing the effectiveness of an intervention and one"s proficiency with the ebp process. Itself: the final step is a process by which the outcome of the intervention is evaluated and the skill of the practitioner is also evaluated.
