Social support creates validation

oAffects self esteem

Challenges: aloneness, lack of social support

Possible interventions:

oSit down with family of individual being marginalized

o“Gay Jesus”

oIncrease emotion, empathy, bring them together

oIncrease social support, let them know they’re normal and not alone

Highest need: self-actualization

o To be comfortable in your own skin

Often forced to live underground because deaths aren’t reported
