PSY 442 Lecture Notes - Lecture 33: List Of Star Trek Races, Aphasia, Defensively Equipped Merchant Ship
Document Summary
Even from an evolutionary adaptation perspective, the idea that the architecture of our system is modular makes a great sense. Following marr (1976), the failure to accept the idea of modular composition would mean that every time a small change occurred, the system would have to undergo a complete restructuring (cuetos, 1998). From here, a wide variety of theoretical models have been proposed that include within the processing system different number and type of modules, in addition to different correspondences between them (cuetos, 1998). Currently the assumption of modularity has a wide approval and strong empirical support. In the case of modularity, the concept of fractionation is implicit, according to which, since the system is divided into different components, a brain injury could selectively destroy one of the components, leaving the dem s preserved(caramazza, 1984). With a great link to the assumption of modularity, the concept of isomorphismisproposed, as another of the basic assumptions on which cognitive neuropsychology is based.
