Perhaps because preschool education considered inherent part of normal education. Theoretically and in practice, the earlier the better. Can a program not meet their goal but still improve environment. Children do better in this environment with more self regulation skills. At risk for poor achievement if lack in these skills. Kindergarten readiness in the form of behavioral self regulation. Little has been done in terms of interventions for these skills. Emerges by preschool and is a good predictor of academic sucess. Children are learning in the preschool years how to regulate themselves within a classroom environment. Brain maturation and prefrontal cortex especially begins to increase at this. Sefl regulation in preschool predicts academic achievement in both preschool time and kg. 16 intervention play groups during the winter. Tx groups significantly related to self regulation gains.
