Document Summary

I used the google source engine since the protests are fairly recent and therefore may not have many reports published in libraries or other sources. I don"t base my searches on location, but rather the website they are on. My high school followed the dapl protests very closely. We even projected some of the protests in class and ran a petition. The dakota access pipeline is a 1,100 mile long pipe that runs from oil fields in north. It runs through the land of the standing rock sioux tribe, however, they were not consulted before the pipeline was approved to be built. The pipeline was also going to pass thru sacred places and native burial sites. Unfortunately, a few hours after the lawyer for the standing rock sioux tribe announced this, construction on the pipeline convientelty began in the same exact place as those sites.
