Document Summary

3. 5 boxplots: minimum, first quartile/q1, median/q2, third quartile/q3, maximum. The 5 number summary is graphed out using the box-plot. The box plot when made by a program will have the line/whisker stop before any outliers. Mostly used when there are 3 or more groups with a large amount of values. Only use normal cdf when you have a normal distribution, meaning the graph is symmetrical and has a bell shaped curve: most things with this distribution is physical measurements (heights, weight), achievement scores (sat scores, iq score) : used to represent the mean of the population. : used to represent the standard deviation of the population. When problems give you something that looks like this: n( , ) the n stands for the entire population for the sample and the values within the parenthesis are the mean and standard deviation n( , )
