Implications for parents and teachers: it is better to build on what the child knows, a child"s cognitive immaturity is adaptive. Asd: a disorder that appears in childhood and is marked by significant deficiencies in communication and social interaction, and by rigidly fixated interests and repetitive behaviors. A prominent symptom of asd would be poor communication. Biological factors include genetic influences and abnormal brain development. Asd brains show less brain activity involved in mirroring others" emotions. By 8 months, infants produce stranger anxiety: stranger anxiety: the fear of strangers that infants commonly display; beginning by about 8 months of age. Attachment: an emotional tie with another person; shown in young children by their seeking closeness to the caregiver and showing distress on separation. Secured attachment: child is happy when parent is present; however, becomes distressed when parent leaves.
