Relegated to independent cinema: characters: if present in mainstream, the (gay) character is isolated away from other gay (sub-culture)s. Interpretation: fits most other teens romantic movies, changed, focused on the internal struggles of a homosexual student in a world that is a lot more progressive than it used to be. That doesn"t mean that the fears are smaller: change. I think this movie puts too much pressure on the idea of being gay.
