HIST 170 Lecture 2: World History, Ancient-1500 Archambeau, Nicole
Document Summary
Remember the whole, history is the questions we ask and how we choose to answer them . Well we spend five minutes saying that with different words, then we finally start: The question -> answer is considered history methodology, which means we have to think about how historians make questions and how they go about answering. Big history (with methodologies) really started in the 80"s + that"s when they started thinking about different points of view. The first question they asked, was how do we do this? . Big history is a rather scientific approach, which is why some historians do a double-take when reading about it, believing it to be science at first. Big history explores a lot of universe origins -> milky way formation -> solar system formation -> earth -> life forming on earth -> freaking fish -> evolution -> Neanderthals and cro-magnons -> hunter-gatherers -> all the way to present.
