Document Summary

Atp will convert to amp + a pyrophosphate. Atp can also turn into 2 molecules of adp when combined with amp: two inorganic phosphates are given as a result. **both phosphate bonds in atp will yield the same amount of energy atp->adp-> There are two types of heat production: obligatory heat production. Results of living and heat is a by-product in these reactions. Ex: rna and lipid synthesis, membrane transport, muscle contraction: regulatory heat production. Performed for the specific purpose of creating heat. All macromolecules will enter the body and will be turned into acetyl-coa eventually: the acetyl-coa will enter the tca cycle to produce reducing equivalents and some. Atp (3 nadh and 1 fadh2: the reducing equivalents will move to enter the electron transport chain. Uses a concentration gradient between the cell memberanes of the mitochondria to harvest the energy (atp) from food: adp will get recycled back into the mitochondria once atp has been used for energy.
