The farm was originally a surgical unit but was converted into swine facility. In the nursery piglets are grouped by gender, research projects, requests, and litter mates. High protein feed is available full time for maximum amount of weight gain in the shortest amount of time. They stay for 4-6 weeks in the nursery before being moved to a building containing the sows. All piglets moved are put into the same pin until they are big enough to have their own pins. Start at 20 lbs as piglets and nish at 60 lbs. Each piglet has an ear tag for identi cation and its color coded.
