Evolutionary development is marked by isolated episodes of rapid speciation between long periods of little or no change convergent evolution. The process whereby the independent evolution of similar traits in organisms that are not closely related (not monophyletic), because they have adapted to similar environments or ecological niches. Two structures are homologous if their similarities are the result of shared ancestry. Structures can be homologous at one level and analogous at another. Descent of man and selection in relation to sex. Two sexes of the same species exhibit different characteristics beyond the differences in their sexual organs. A female is very limited in how many males she can reproduce with. Females do the choosing and males must do the selling. Expensive secual displays indicate high quality genes, because lower quality genes could not support the display.
