Beginning late 19th into the early 20t centuries at a time when mass-industrialization and urbanization became fully entrenched in the united states. this country being the most industrialized in the world. With that new urban industrial order it opened up new employement opportunities for women. Basically, female employment was especially the case in the three following categories: paid domestics. By the late 1870s, one out of three employed women were employed as paid domestics. Stereotypically, young working class women being employed by middle and upper class families. Being employed to do things such as laundry, cook, do dishes and raise the family"s children, etc. Yet 50 years later in 19920, only one out of six women were employed as paid domestics and by that time a vast majority f of women who were employed as paid domestics were african american.
