Document Summary
Pick up from previous class wednesday november 9 2016. One other significant development during the civil rights movement during here 1950s was the montgomery bus boycott. That began on december 1, 1955, it lasted for 381 days, provoked by none other than rosa parks who refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white person. Now, the way things worked back then, was that when white persons boarded busses they filled the seats front to back. When african americans boarded they could fill the seats front to back cause where the white persons left off. Parks was arrested which began the 381 day boycott. With the boycotting taking place, blacks walked to work, did their shopping elsewhere in other communities rather than using the transportation system in montgomery. And three important developments came from that experience: it brought a new leader into the civil rights movement.
