Epistemology vs. metaphysics: philosophers enjoy the study of philosophy. Value in it"s own sake: how philosophy can help a student. Become a better reasoner: reasoning is an area of philosophy. Give us a deep education: the oldest and most revered subject. All education used to be considered philosophy. Epistemology: the study or theory of knowledge, rational belief, what is the correct theory of knowledge? what is knowledge? what makes something knowledge. These are the questions of philosophers: acquaintance knowledge. I know someone: knowing how knowledge. Knowing that knowledge: i knew that something is something, propositional knowledge. The object of the knowledge is a proposition: a proposition is whatever is expressed by a declarative sentence, propositions: the kinds of things with a truth value. What is required for propositional knowledge: truth, justi cation. The study of very basic issues about reality and our place in it that science is unsuited to answer: why is there anything at all.
