The rise of fascism: fascism as a rejection of modernity: the search for gemeinschaftlichkeit. Shared common core values from enlightenment experience (liberalism, socialism, communism): believed in individual, sacredly of human life, human kind rational, rule of law, desire of international peace, democracy. Communist dialectic material (believed in change), class struggle, interested in economic well-being of individual, movement/ideals international. Liberals individual freedom (led to arguments), equality (dangerous to mediocrity), plurality of groups (produce anarchy/weakness) Fascist idealists (namely nation"s state), reconcile all classes, only interested in individual sacrifice self to better state, rejected all international movements, common agreement b/c led to strength: a working definition of fascism.
