35 views2 pages

Document Summary

A lot of kurdish guerillas go to iran and become iranian citizens. Things don"t last because in 1977-1978 it"s the beginning of large-scale social movements against both iraq and iran. Everything comes to a stop and a complete break over the past. The royal family is ousted and the entire orientation of the government changes- no longer pro-western and now a revolutionary government with bad relations with anyone. Israel becomes the worst enemy but other arab countries also become hostile. Rhomeini goes back and leads the revolution in iran intent on changing the international status quo. Iraq and kuwait are in a tough position. Rhomeini is doing what iraq did earlier but on the other hand the social movement that is threatening is the iraqi regime is supported by rhomeini. Saddam hussein represses the iraqi revolution earlier but fears iranian revolution spillover. Hussein responds by invading iran and that"s the start of iran-iraq war.
