Interatrial interval: the end of one trial to the start to the next. Interstimulus : time from the start of cs to the start of the us: training procedures, short delayed. Short isi: cs and us overlap, trace. Larger isi: no overlap ( trace interval , long delayed : Latency -when: control procedures, control complications, habitation, was there prior exposure, pseudo-conditioning. Interstimulus interval: key is time from cs onset to the us onset: conditioning is optional when the cs predicts the us will occur soon, best: short delay, trace : good. Long delay: good: worst: simultaneous (none, backwards: weird, but modern theories indicate all procedures produce strong learning , it"s just not displayed, temporal coding hypothesis, the organism learns not only the cs-us associations, but when it occurs. Standard procedures: 2 trials randomly alternated, trial type a- cs+ paired with us, trial type b- cs+ and cs- with no us. In inhibitory trial b: cs+: tone, cs-: light.
