Brain plasticity is greater at younger age making it easier and faster to learn at a younger age. Parents are usually the ones to teach the offspring because the more likely their offspring survive the more likely their genes will be passed down. Sponging behavior of dolphins- put sponges on their beak which is used to protect themselves from sharp rocks. Only transmitted in females and from parent to offspring. Males learn the song through generation and there is a positive relationship between the song that the son and father sing. No correlation between the son and the maternal grandfather but there is a slight correlation from son and paternal grandfather. Transfer of information across generations but not via parent/offspring interaction. Monkeys have no innate fear of snakes but if they see another monkey being scared of snakes, they will themselves become fearful as well. The adult developed a fear and the youngers learn to be fearful.
