Strange situation experiment shows that some children are securely attaches and others are insecurely attached. Infants differing attachment styles reflect their individual temperament and the responsiveness of their parents and child-care providers: early attachment has an impact on later adult relationship and comfort with affection intimacy. Deprivation of attachment: usually are resilient. When these children were testes, they had lower intelligence scores and higher anxiety systems than children in higher quality foster settings. Parenting styles: authoritative parents tend to have children with the highest self-esteem, self- reliance, and social competence. They don"t give their kid a chance to develop who they are. Adolescence: transition from childhood to adulthood, beginning with puberty. Early maturing boys: more popular, self-assured, and independent; more at risk for alcohol use, delinquency, and premature sexual activity. Early maturing girls: mismatch between physical and emotional maturity may encourage search for older teens; teasing or sexual harassment may occur.
