Waited several months for the results: 1950: first/only profession to use uniform licensing exam for national licensure, 1982 boards --> national council licensure examination. Subsequent questions determined by answer to previous one. 1982 nclex: shifted to an external testing vendor, allowed testing by appointment, any time, allowed immediate grading/resulting. Reduced length of time graduate could practice: 1991: computerized adaptive testing became the official process.
