Peer relationships are extremely important in adolescence as they look to each other for. Peer relationships in baby be-bop advice and approval in a very judgmental society. In baby be-bop it is clear that being gay is still a taboo among the students and dirk feels isolated from the rest, not quite fitting in. Generally, because adolescents are in part to seek support and acceptance from peers, many adolescents affiliate with a peer crowd (la greca and harrison 50). While pup is not necessarily a group, he is what dirk wants to follow and conform to because he looks up to pup. He admires the qualities that james dean has looking fearless but still human enough to have hidden fears and thinks pup exemplifies this same character.
