Document Summary

Bio heart- cell therapy for the heart (cardiomyoplasty) More than 400 stem cell therapy trials with adult adipose. Stem cells: cells that can divide (100+ times) or differentiate (normally 25 times) Transdifferentiation: cell differentiating from one differentiated cells to another differentiated cell. Take pc-12 cell present with neurological growth factor and they differentiate into a neural cell, if ngf is taken away the cell differentiates. Take the cell and plant it into a human embryo (use gfp) then all the cells become labeled. If gfp labeled cells are all throughout the mouse, original cells were totipotent. Stap cells (stimulus triggered acquisition of pluripotency) - fraud (cid:498)biodistributed ion(cid:499) (cid:498)stem cell-like. (cid:499) they said it turned into embryonic stem cell, but that wasn"t true. They wouldn"t tell what the acid treatment was so it couldn"t be replicated. Took differentiated cell and added acid treatement, which shoks it. Bioethics: (cid:498)norms(cid:499) of research and clinical conduct, they are country specific.
