ANTH 111 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: The Stereotypes, Oldies
Document Summary
Sub-cultures are smaller groups separate from societal norms and mainstream ideas. These differences within societies impact society a great amount because it is the sub-culture that overall produces a real society as whole. What our group did to analyze the sub-culture of binghamton university is look at a club. We collectively decided that an acapella group would be a good, different and unique group to observe and question. We decided to ask to meet with them and they gave us a date that worked for the group. When visiting the acapella group, we saw diversity among the group members. We decided on 5 random people to interview. They were very welcoming and we interviewed them with questions that we had prepared beforehand. When we felt like we needed more information on a response, we followed up on the question to get that extra information. The environment was very laid back and close knit.
