Document Summary

Many audio soundfiles or samples can be identified as having originated in the natural world. All such sounds can be classified as concrete. Since the 1950"s composers have made use of first analog electric-based tools and then digital tools to produce purely electroacoustic music. A phrase is a complete musical statement usually involving several events or tones. Amplitude: a technical measure of the relative energy in a sound across time. The typical meter features a three or four-beat cycle called a measure. Beat one of the measure is referred to as the downbeat of the measure. The event domain is a loosely defined temporal region/view roughly between 1/10 of a second and several seconds. In this temporal region our auditory system is able to identify sounds as individual sonic events with specific characters. A frequency band is a range of contiguous frequencies in the frequency domain, somewhere between 16-20,000 hertz (hz).
