Linguistic nationalism = attributing national identity towards a national language / method of communication. People could have been bilingual but noooo, they just wanted to hold on to one language. Impossible to attain because never going to have one single language. Linguistic crossing causes people to rethink cultural identities. Cultural stereotypes/expectations, privileged cultures will be eradicated. How does the different sense of identity/journey affect the development of native. Native americans view themselves as part of the land; therefore, as they migrate they adapt cultures from different groups and add them to their language. Connected to the land, so changes occur in longer time. Europeans are driven by journey and try to bring their language to foreign places. As a result, their languages are more stable and more likely to expand. European notion to keep moving forward - brings both good and bad effects.
