Racial formation: the sociohistorical process by which racial categories are created, inhabited, transformed, and destroyed. Racial projects: racial formation is a process of historically situated projects in which human bodies and social structures are represented and organized. Types of racial projects: liberal (center-left), neo-conservative (center-right), far right, radical democratic, nationalist (right & left): Micro level: everyday interaction, internalized meaning, common sense . Race and the state: racial dictatorship & racial democracy. Max weber on power: that opportunity existing within a social relationship which permits one to carry out one"s own will even against resistance and regardless of the basis on which this opportunity rests. Race and reaction in the mainstream press / popular imagination.
