N. z. contributed 100,000 troops in ww1 & 120,000 troops in ww2. Financial upheaval due to rogernomics in 1980s. Continues to be a blend of free market & social support structures. Major population centers: auckland, christchurch, wellington & dunedin. Of the population lives on the north island & on the south island. 53 largest economy in the world (based on gdp) Issues include: housing affordability, poverty ( of children living in poverty), isolation, complexities of infrastructure. Communication is a transactional process in which people generate meaning, through the exchange of verbal & non-verbal messages in specific contexts, influenced by individual & societal forces & embedded in culture. It can be both an art (creative/critical discourse) & a science (social science)
