Chances of an earthquake being felt in berkeley during this semester is a 9/10 chance. Ridgecrest earthquakes -- july 4th & 5th, 2019. A portion of the fault moved a little bit above the quake, triggering the second quake & more aftershocks. Get on the floor between chairs b/c it"s sturdy. Prevents objects from falling & hitting you on head. Most buildings in ca are not going to collapse in an earthquake. What causes cars to sway relative low frequencies. Because of the big earthquake, low frequency rays travel farther so cities far away may not feel it but can see it through cars & lights swaying. Example of girl in vegas whose aunt saw the cars swaying but didn"t feel any shaking from the ridgecrest quake. No equal likelihood of a quake occurring in places across the state. We can see faults, so we should be aware of our location. Sequences of aftershocks occur over a few days.
