Document Summary

At every level, there are prototype efects. Takes you longer to identify members of a category that are not the prototypical members. There are always more central/less central subclasses. People will rate members on how well they represent a category. Answers to questions about basic-levelness are given faster than answers to questions about its superordinate-levelness or subordinate- levelness. Example: is this a car? < is this a vehicle? / is this a ford. Highest level of shared image/shared motor routines. Monosyllabic is not a strict requirement (exceptions = purple, orange, turquoise) Applicable to a wide variety of objects. Cannot be a subcategory of any other english color. Knowing an idea is having an object (in the mind-container) Learning an idea is acquiring an object. Teaching/communicating an idea is giving an object. The person learning will know exactly the same thing that the teacher/communicator knew.
