Aug. 30: bertrand de jouvenel, the pure theory of politics, part i, ch. Jouvenel talks about politics in a very simple way. Man moves man and is either successful or unsuccessful. Configuration: where things stand in relation to each other. Pnyx: assembly of the people, base ground but have the most power. White house and capitol building are somewhat equal. Will the decision be made in the affirmative? (what will happen?) Consequence: how events arise from one another. Defeat of athens on expedition to syracuse. Could or could not see events of importance, depends where you are. Politicians have trouble predicting what may happen. Importance of knowing what happened on the ground. Political science tries to observe from all 3 points.
