Oil is made in most everyday products! Swampy vegetation, bigger and more complex than the plankton. Basically, is down to the size of the organism. Sediments are being deposited above, pressure and temperature increase, anaerobic. Drilling and pumps in a well because it"s liquid. First phase of recovery: primary- poke a hole and it"s under so much natural pressure that it flows up. Some sort of trap, can only move through porous reservoir rock. Trapped in folds, with water underneath, where the oil is more buoyant than the water. Pulls up oil, refills the chamber with oil. Third phase: inject fluid to increase the pressure to push the oil out. Material they inject is a solvent that de-absorbs oil from the deposits. Where shelf marine systems were long times ago, and where tectonic plates are. Has more sunlight closer to the surface and there is a bottom to attach onto.
