Translation: synthesis of proteins from rna template. Trna: transfer rna: 3 prime end is aa aceptor arm and internal anticodon base pairs with codons in mrna. Aa covalently attaches to cca (5 to 3) at 3 end. 3 prime end always ends in cca. Anti codom binds to mrna codon (noncovalently) Anticodon in tnra recognizes through base pairing. Still polarity of nucleic acids: 5 to 3. Aminocyl trna sunthetase recognizes trna and its aa and joins them. Lik aa to trna, trna binds to codon in rna: aa is selected by codon. High energy bond: drives peptidyl trasnferase reaction. Covalent bond carhges trna w aa: charged trna involved in translation. Some trnas can wobble: mismatch in 3rd position of codon/anticodon pair. Explains why fewer trnas than codons: some trnas do both. 1 and 2 follow base pairing, but 3rd can deviate. Info suppressor mutations: restore wild type phenotype without restooring widl trype genotype.
