Man is threatened by his need to dominate others but thinks of himself and acts as a passive person who is not aggressive. (overcompensate: rationalization. Devising a reasonable explanation or excuse for an event or behavior that threatens the person"s esteem: regression. Retreating to an earlier and more primitive stage or mode of behavior in order to avoid pain, threat, or anxiety.
