Mauss (gift & potlatch: using material objects to form ties with others, competitive and aggressive gift giving, pirituality is at the (cid:448)ery (cid:272)e(cid:374)ter of (cid:862)(cid:373)o(cid:374)ey(cid:863, engaged in a potlatch instead of going to war. Destroyed things of utility value to create unity. Seems irrational, but not about the items themselves. Had to destroy more and more (an escalating feature) Subjugated by others if could not continue to destroy. Play out animosity without going to war. Duking it out in a less destructive way: derailing animosity, a for(cid:373) of (cid:272)redit . ?
