JOUR 601 Lecture Notes - Lecture 64: Tabloid Journalism
Document Summary
The reports who are a part of the pack don"t like it, the objects of the pack"s attention, and the readers feel the same way. To distance from this pack, reporters have tried to use a rhetorical strategy of writing to make it seem like they aren"t a part of it. Occupational culture with a repeating occurrence of ignoring criticism on the outside has shown that image is in dire need of repair when it comes to journalism. Instead of acting like criticism of reflexive media is a form of an objective paradigm repair, it says that reporters that write about problems of the pack go away from objectivity altogether. Objectivity needs reporters to stay out of the story. Reflexive media criticism says that journalists comportment and them just being there affects those they write about and how readers experience and judge how bad an event is.
