Egyptians create a much larger kingdom, not just north and south egypt. Governance- one kingdom under one leader- pharaoh: absolute control of the people-the law is his will. All land and the people in it he owned. Ra- pharaoh was the son of the sun god ra- ra would come down from the heavens and impregnates the queen and she has the future pharaoh. Hereditary- passed from father to son- father to daughter: oldest would rule. Oldest son and daughter would marry- only in the royal family. Bureaucracy- a government behind pharaoh- hundreds of helpers- writing and literacy is vital.
