Human civilization: features- the growth of cities, urban life, food production, high occupation specialization, writing, develop hierarchical administrative bureaucracies. Paleolithic age/ stone age: 3,000,000 years ago- homo habilis (skillful man), tool making in east sub saharian. Africa: 600,000- primitive humans in eroupe and asia, 40,000- homo sapiens (thinking man) in europe with glacial ice, 25,000- ice melts, mass human migrations start to occur. Hunting + gathering are main occupations in small groups. Mesolithic age/ middle stone age: 20,000-10,000 years ago- invention of the bow and arrow, boats w/ sail, and domestication of animals. Meolithic age/ new stone age: 10,000-3,000 years ago- transitions from hunting and gathering. Social results- lots of food, social classes, private property, division of labor, and slavery.
