The leaders come together to reinforce key components. Pope is the leader of the christian world. The protestants do not see him as the leader. Makes a strong statement about clerical marriage, it is illegal. Purgatory- middle place between heaven and hell. Jesuits (1540)- monastic order- loyalty to the pope- highly educated. Very well trained in their mission. education/training is very important. Certain places that jewish people had to live. Restricted movement in and out of the ghetto. Wear a yellow hat if you were jewish. Henry viii (r. 1509-1547)- king of england. Annul- wants to annul his marriage with catherine. Henry goes to the leadership of the church in his country to end the marriage. Parliament (1533) - henry asks them to break from the catholic church.
