Spend a lot of time trying to find food/drink. Constantinople- christian city- tension between the leaders and the crusaders. The leaders here want the crusaders to take over the holy land and give it to. Fealty- oath of loyalty to the emperor of constantinople. All leaders of the armies must do it. Also the lands they take over have to go to him. The crusaders believe that the emperor will support them. Becomes the leader and creates a tiny kingdom for himself. Antioch (1097-1098)- been marching for a year, low morale- takes months to get this city. They sit there outside of the wall and stay there until the antioch start to starve.
