Relief sculpture- usually meant to be seen from a certain point of view. Look at it from straight on and see everything. Bas-relief (low)- a type of sculpture that has less depth to the faces and figures than they actually have, when measured proportionately (to scale). Haut-relief (high)- a method used in sculpture in which a picture is carved to stand out a lot from a surface. Sculpture in the round- have to walk around the whole sculpture to see everything. Value- the lightness or darkness of tones or colors. Space- distances or areas around, between or within components of a piece. Space can be positive (white or light) or negative (black or dark), open or closed, shallow or deep and two-dimensional or three-dimensional. Emphasis- an area or object within the artwork that draws attention and becomes a focal point.
