Art history notes: unit 3: canon of art history, placed there by a certain group of people, venus figurines hand stencils- where people took pigment and mixed with saliva. Menstrual cycle is 13 months: fertility figure, abstract figurine, no written records from time period, standard of ur, war side and peace side, concerned with social, political structure, registers used-a distinct line. Function as a way to delineate each figure from another. Also shows passage through time: hierarchical scale most important figure is the biggest figure, continuous narrative- continuous figures used over and over. Used to show passage of time: put in a linear fashion.
