Document Summary
Piaget"s stages of cognitive development in social learning: Sensory motor period (ages 0-2) reflex activity leading to understanding of intentional responses, object permanence. We don"t know our self yet, we don"t know that concept. Ex: babies are not aware of their surroundings and most of their movements are reflexes. Ex: parents telling their kids no! ; they don"t know why it"s wrong but the tone makes them not want to repeat it. Ex: i"m hungry mommy, i want to eat now! . Preoperational period (2-7) verbal representation moves from egotistical to social, language, symbols, imagination. Kids are becoming aware of your surroundings. Ex: are you okay, mommy? , why are you crying mommy? . Period of concrete operations (7-11) evidence for organized, logical thought, understand time, space. Ex: kid: why can"t i go play? okay. Period of formal operations (11+) concrete logical thought moves into the ability for abstract, formal logic (as-if/if-then)
