Care at time of death: documentation, time, who was present, natural of death, details of any relevant devices (eg. defibrillator & radioactive) Thinking nurse: can a specially trained rn pronounce death: yes, but 2 nurses must do it. The death must be reported to the coroner immediately. This may be done by hospital staff or in some cases, such as homicides & traffic collisions, the responsible law of enforcement agency. Persons dying within 24 hours of admission to hospital. All deaths occurring in accidents, during therapeutic or diagnostic procedures or as a result of complications of these procedures (postoperative, e. g. , wound infections). Death as a result the patient has not regained consciousness after anesthesia should be reported.
