THEA 1520 Lecture 5: The guideposts
Document Summary
The book, audition, michael shurtleff outlines twelve guideposts that help future actors personalize scripts and have a strong bond to their character. The first guidepost is that will be introduced is on relationships. Shurtleff has actors" question what their relationship is to other characters on set. The actor should be able to discover their own emotions and attitude towards the other characters in the scene rather than just identifying their relationship to them. Actors must ask themselves where the love is in the scene or if it absent from the scene. The definition of love is merely romantic love and actors should understand that i can also be familial or friendly. In this scene, i am talking to wendy and telling her something i thought i would never say to anyone that i got a crush on adam. Wendy is my best friend even though we have fights sometimes it is a big deal sharing this to her!
