The concept of race is rarely contested in sport. Race is conceptually different in each culture. We distinguish people racially by their physical characteristics. Early on was the study of man and the races of man. Europe defined the other (non-european) who are inferior. The idea of race has been eliminated from anthropology and textbooks in the 70s. Geneticist have proven that we all come from the same dna. Race important concept, shaping and weaving the world: how it categorizes and define have not always been the same. 1508- dunbar william wrote a poem on race: 17th century- race is used as the technical term on human groups, shakespeare used the term race" to mean inheritance of temperament, race and people in relation to stock. Term used to describe behavioral and physical characteristics: as early as the 18th century, race used to distinguish groups biologically different from one another. Listed 3 different sub-species: caucasian, mongolian, ethiopian.
