Document Summary

Lecture 9: neo-liberalism, work-life balance and issues of time: under the understanding of neoliberalism think about the fragility of families. How fragile families have become under the work and having access to it all: almost everyone understands the stressful juggling act that canadian workers have to deal with. Embedded in these work patters has been a profound challenge to existing patterns of social interaction, connection and personal lives: workers are not in a vacuum they exist within their families, societies and etc. The impact of work has a huge impact on the declines of the quality of life. 3 important processes: for jobs described as bad ones domination: the dramatic increase in corporate power and huge systems of economic, the pro-corporate neoliberal agenda throughout much of the world and the destruction of the social safety net. Here we are referring to the state and the destruction of what once was a social safety net protecting people from the harsh market.
