Theory: systematic way to describe what is going on around us. Describe, predict and eventually control the outcomes of certain events. U wanna make sure the outcomes were not a coincidence. Validity: true, it is what we say it is. Internal validity: within the study ( does it test what we think it tests) External validity: generalizable to the larger world ( can be applied to the larger population and the larger community in general and not just the specific group that was studied in that particular research study) You would do a literature review and then because of it you would develop a : Design: the type of approach you would like to take to further investigate your research. Population: what population do you wanna study. Convenience: researcher would choose their participants based on how readily accessible they are. Stratified: matching a set of characteristics of a population based on some qualities they are looking for.
